Lenovo ThinkPad T480s Windows 7 Pro laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14 inch business laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It uses an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 12 GB of DDR4 memory and a 180 GB SSD. The matte IPS display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution. Built-in 4G LTE WWAN and a fingerprint reader support mobile work.

Upgrade from older ultraportables lacking

This model adds Thunderbolt over USB-C for 40 Gbps data and video bandwidth, a jump from earlier ports limited to 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps. The 8th generation Core i5 reaches 3.4 GHz turbo, lifting multi-thread speed over dual-core predecessors. MIL-SPEC testing across 21 standards means the chassis survives shocks that bend lesser frames.

Mobile professionals needing legacy OS and WWAN

Buyers who must run Windows 7 Pro for certified software and need always-connected 4G LTE will match this configuration. The 180 GB drive and 12 GB RAM suit core productivity, not large local datasets or heavy creative suites. Shoppers requiring a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a larger display should evaluate other form factors.

Questions about this item

Does the 14" IPS FHD display fit standard VESA mounts?

The laptop has no VESA mounting holes; it is designed for desk or lap use only.

How do I activate the 4G LTE WWAN module and what step do users skip?

Insert an active nano-SIM into the internal slot, install the Lenovo Mobile Broadband driver, then enable the connection in Windows Network settings — most users forget the driver.

When will the soldered 12GB DDR4 memory need replacement?

The memory is soldered and cannot be replaced; plan the system lifecycle around the fixed 12GB capacity.
