Compact 14-inch Business Notebook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine with a quad-core Intel Core i7-8565U processor. It combines a 1920 x 1080 IPS display, 24GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe solid-state drive in a black chassis that includes a fingerprint reader and 720p webcam.

Suited to Mobile Office Work

This configuration suits users who prioritise portability, long battery life and integrated Intel UHD Graphics for everyday productivity, video calls and multi-monitor setups via HDMI and Thunderbolt. Buyers who require a dedicated GPU for rendering or gaming, or who need a larger panel for extensive multi-window layouts, should consider other options.

24GB DDR4 Memory Decides Fit

The single specification that determines whether this unit fits the workflow is the 24GB DDR4 capacity, which is soldered and not user-expandable; if the workload regularly exceeds that amount, the laptop will throttle to swap and a different system must be chosen.

Questions about this item

Will the 14-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display and Thunderbolt port work with my existing 1080p monitors and Thunderbolt dock?

The 14-inch FHD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080, matching standard 1080p monitors, and the Thunderbolt port supports compatible docks and displays using the same interface.

How can I confirm the i7-8565U is reaching its 4.6GHz turbo and the 24GB DDR4 is recognised after setup?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab to verify the processor hits 4.6GHz under load and that 24GB of DDR4 memory appears as installed and available.

Does the box include the 512GB NVMe SSD and Windows 10 Pro licence, or must I buy storage and an OS separately?

The 512GB NVMe SSD and Windows 10 Pro are pre-installed; the package also contains the laptop, power adapter and documentation, so no separate storage or OS purchase is required.
