ThinkPad T490s with 14-inch touch display

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490s 20NX002JUS is a 14.0-inch laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8565U processor running at 1.80 GHz with four cores. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 2400 memory, a 256 GB solid-state drive and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The full-HD IPS panel supports multi-touch input at 1920 x 1080 resolution and is driven by integrated UHD Graphics 620.

Installation and common issues

As a factory-sealed notebook the unit requires no internal assembly; the operating system and drivers are pre-loaded. Memory is soldered to the board so the 8 GB capacity cannot be increased later. The 256 GB SSD is the only internal storage device and there is no secondary drive bay, limiting future expansion. Wireless connectivity uses IEEE 802.11ac; no other network adapters are mentioned in the specifications.

Suitable users and limitations

This configuration suits professionals who need a lightweight 14-inch touchscreen ultrabook for office applications, web browsing and video conferencing on Windows 10 Pro. Buyers who require more than 8 GB of system memory or a discrete graphics processor should consider a different model. The single 256 GB drive also makes the laptop less appropriate for users who store large media libraries locally.
