Compact business laptop for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490s combines a 14.0 inch IPS FHD touch display with an Intel Core i7-8565U quad-core processor reaching 4.6GHz turbo frequency. Windows 10 Pro, 8GB DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD provide a ready-to-work platform for office tasks and light creative work.

Integrated graphics limit 3D and video workloads

Intel UHD Graphics handles desktop productivity, web conferencing and media playback but cannot accelerate modern games, GPU rendering or heavy compute. Thunderbolt and HDMI ports allow external monitors, yet the internal GPU remains the bottleneck for any graphics-intensive pipeline.

8GB soldered memory cannot be expanded

The single specification that decides suitability is the fixed 8GB DDR4 capacity with no upgrade path. Buyers who need more memory for virtual machines, large datasets or future-proofing must choose a different system.

Questions about this item

Is the 256GB NVMe SSD the only storage option on this T490s?

The 256GB NVMe SSD is the single drive installed; no secondary HDD or additional SSD is present in this configuration.

How does the 4.6GHz turbo frequency behave under everyday workloads?

The Core i7-8565U can reach 4.6GHz on one core for short bursts; sustained multi-core speeds will settle lower depending on thermal limits.

What does the Thunderbolt port allow me to connect?

The Thunderbolt port supports external displays, high-speed NVMe storage and docks through a single USB-C connector.
