Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20KGS58300 is a 14.0 inch 2-in-1 ultrabook built on a carbon-fibre reinforced chassis. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor at 1.90 GHz with 16 GB of LPDDR3 memory and a 512 GB SSD. The 2560 x 1440 IPS LCD panel and Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle everyday business visuals.

Suits frequent travellers not heavy creators

This ultrabook suits executives and field staff who prioritise a 2.49 lb carry weight and all-day battery life over raw graphics power. Buyers who want more storage, discrete GPU performance, or user-upgradable memory should look at something else because the 16 GB LPDDR3 is soldered and the SSD is the only drive bay.

Steady output within a slim thermal envelope

Under sustained load the quad-core i7-8650U maintains clock speeds inside the ultrabook’s thin chassis without aggressive throttling. The 3-cell lithium-ion battery supports long sessions away from the 120 V or 230 V AC adapter, while the carbon-fibre frame dissipates heat across its surface rather than relying on loud fans.

Questions about this item

Does the 512 GB SSD leave room to add another internal drive later?

The X1 Carbon 20KGS58300 ships with a single 512 GB SSD and the memory is soldered at 16 GB LPDDR3, so no additional internal storage or RAM slots are available.

Will the UHD Graphics 620 drive my older 1080p monitor over the built-in video output?

The integrated UHD Graphics 620 supports external displays up to 4K, so a 1080p monitor will work at its native resolution without issue.

How can I confirm the 2560 x 1440 IPS panel is running at its full resolution after setup?

Open Windows Display Settings and verify the resolution shows 2560 x 1440 at the recommended scaling; the Intel graphics control panel will also report the panel's native timing.
