ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 i7-7500U

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a 14.0" mainstream laptop running Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-7500U processor up to 3.5 GHz. It ships with a 1TB SSD and 8GB of memory. The FHD IPS panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. A fingerprint reader and ThinkPad UltraNav touchpad handle security and pointing. Four USB ports and Bluetooth 4.1 provide connectivity.

Suited for mobile professionals needing a tested

The carbon-fibre reinforced chassis with magnesium alloy roll-cage passes 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 durability tests while weighing 2.49 lbs. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a heavier workstation-class GPU should look elsewhere. The 8GB memory is soldered, so users who need more RAM cannot upgrade later. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C adds 40Gbps data and video bandwidth for docks and external displays.

Fits a light carry build with single-cable docking

USB-C charging lets the same port power the laptop and drive peripherals, freeing the other three USB ports for accessories. The 1TB SSD stores the OS and large project files without a secondary drive. Bluetooth 4.1 connects a mouse and headset without dongles. The non-touch FHD screen keeps weight down and battery life up for all-day meetings.
