ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 with 4G LTE WWAN

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a 14-inch mainstream laptop built for mobile professionals who need integrated cellular connectivity. It ships new with Windows 7 Professional and an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, delivering a compact workstation for travel and office use. The carbon-fibre reinforced chassis meets 12 military-grade requirements and passes more than 200 durability tests.

8 GB memory and 256 GB NVMe SSD capacity

The 8 GB of system memory handles typical business applications, web browsing and document workloads without paging. The 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD provides fast boot and application launch speeds for the operating system and core files. Storage headroom becomes tight once local media libraries, virtual machines or large project archives are added, requiring external drives or cloud offload.

Carbon-fibre chassis, Thunderbolt 3 and UltraNav

Four layers of carbon-fibre reinforced chassis and a magnesium alloy roll-cage keep weight at 2.49 lbs while surviving rigorous durability testing. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps data and video bandwidth for docks and external displays. The ThinkPad UltraNav combines the TrackPoint pointing stick with a multi-touch touchpad, and a fingerprint reader adds biometric login.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i7-7500U processor and Thunderbolt 3 port work with my existing USB-C dock and monitors?

The i7-7500U runs up to 3.5 GHz and the Thunderbolt 3 port delivers up to 40Gbps bandwidth, supporting data, video and charging through a single USB-C connection to compatible docks and displays.

How can I verify the 14.0" WQHD IPS panel and 4G LTE WWAN are functioning correctly after first boot?

Check that Windows 7 Professional detects the 2560 x 1440 native resolution and that the WWAN card appears in Device Manager; insert an active SIM to confirm a mobile broadband connection is established.

Does the package include a charger and SIM card for the 4G LTE WWAN, or must I source them separately?

The laptop ships with a USB Type-C charger; a compatible nano-SIM and data plan from a mobile carrier are required separately to activate the 4G LTE WWAN service.
