ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 14" WQHD Ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a 14-inch WQHD ultrabook built for mobile professionals who need a durable, lightweight system with integrated 4G LTE connectivity. It ships new with Windows 7 Professional, an Intel Core i7-7600U processor, 8GB of memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD.

Sustained workload on i7-7600U with 8GB RAM

The dual-core Intel Core i7-7600U reaches 3.9 GHz for burst performance, while the carbon-fiber reinforced chassis and magnesium alloy roll-cage manage heat during extended sessions. The laptop passes 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 durability tests, yet weighs only 2.49 lbs for all-day carry.

Installation notes for Windows 7 Pro ultrabook

Windows 7 Professional is pre-installed, so the system is ready to use after the initial out-of-box setup. The fingerprint reader enrolls quickly for Windows Hello, and the single USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3 handles both charging and data. Buyers who need more storage or user-upgradeable memory should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Intel Core i7-7600U get when the X1 Carbon 5 runs all day?

The carbon-fiber chassis and magnesium roll-cage pass 200 durability tests and 12 military-grade requirements, so the system stays cool and quiet under sustained load.

What must I already own to use the 4G LTE WWAN on this ThinkPad?

An active nano-SIM data plan from a mobile carrier; the WWAN card is installed and the OS is Windows 7 Professional.

Can I connect my older USB-A peripherals to the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port?

Yes, a USB-C to USB-A adapter or hub lets legacy devices work at their native speeds through the Thunderbolt 3 port.
