Ready-to-run ultraportable for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th gen arrives as a 14.0 inch FHD laptop with an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor that reaches 3.60 GHz turbo. It ships with 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD already installed. No operating system is included so the buyer installs their preferred platform.

Storage and memory fixed at purchase

The 500GB NVMe drive is new and the 16GB DDR3 is soldered with zero free slots, so neither capacity can be increased after sale. Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display without a discrete GPU. Bluetooth and a webcam are present for peripheral and video needs.

Suits buyers who want a light 14 inch

Ideal for users who will supply their own OS licence and need a compact business laptop with a fresh SSD. Not suited for anyone who requires expandable memory, a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a pre-loaded operating system.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB DDR3 memory be upgraded later?

The 16 GB DDR3 memory is soldered and the maximum supported is 16 GB, so no upgrade is possible.

What limits sustained performance first — the i5-8350U turbo ceiling or the UHD 620 graphics?

The Intel Core i5-8350U reaches its 3.60 GHz turbo ceiling before the UHD 620 graphics becomes the bottleneck.

How loud does the fan get when the i5-8350U runs at 3.60 GHz all day?

Under continuous 3.60 GHz load the cooling fan spins up to an audible but not intrusive level for an ultraportable.
