ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 14-inch ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 is a 14.0-inch ultrabook running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor at 2.80 GHz with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD. The non-touch WUXGA display shows 1920 x 1200 resolution. Integrated graphics handle visual output.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the quad-core i7-1165G7 and integrated GPU share the same thermal envelope. The 16 GB of system memory serves both compute and graphics tasks without a separate video buffer. Fan speed and chassis temperature will rise as the package power limit is maintained over time. Performance settles at a level the cooling solution can sustain indefinitely.

Checklist before ordering this configuration

Verify that 16 GB of soldered memory meets your multitasking requirements because it cannot be upgraded later. Confirm the 512 GB SSD capacity is sufficient for your operating system, applications and active project files. Ensure the single HDMI port and integrated graphics cover your external display needs. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete GPU should consider a different configuration.

Questions about this item

How hot does the i7-1165G7 get during all-day workloads?

The quad-core processor runs at 2.80 GHz base speed and uses integrated graphics, so sustained loads stay within the ultrabook's slim thermal envelope without a discrete GPU adding extra heat.

What cables or docks do I need to connect external monitors?

The laptop provides one HDMI port and USB-C ports that support video output, so a single HDMI cable or a USB-C hub with DisplayPort or HDMI is enough for a second screen.

Will my older USB-A peripherals work without adapters?

The chassis includes USB-A ports alongside USB-C, so legacy mice, keyboards and flash drives plug in directly.
