Business ultraportable for mobile professionals

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a 14-inch laptop built for executives and frequent travellers who need a durable, lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine. Its carbon-fibre reinforced chassis meets 12 military-grade requirements and passes more than 200 durability tests while weighing only 2.49 lbs. The non-touch WQHD IPS panel provides a 2560 x 1440 workspace for documents and video calls.

512 GB NVMe SSD with 8 GB memory

The 512 GB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive offers fast boot and application loading for typical office suites, cloud portals and local project files. Eight gigabytes of soldered memory handles multitasking across browser tabs, email and productivity apps, but intensive workloads such as large datasets, virtual machines or video editing will exhaust the available headroom. Storage cannot be expanded internally beyond the single drive slot.

Thunderbolt 3 and fingerprint reader

Two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 deliver up to 40 Gbps data transfer, dual 4K video output and charging through a single cable, reducing the number of adapters required on the road. The Touch Sensor fingerprint reader provides Windows Hello login that is more reliable than swipe-type sensors. Bluetooth 4.1 connects standard peripherals, while the UltraNav touchpad and TrackPoint preserve the traditional ThinkPad navigation experience.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i7-7600U processor and Thunderbolt 3 ports work with my existing USB-C dock and monitors?

The system includes Intel Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C for data, charging and video at up to 40Gbps, so compatible docks and displays will operate at full speed.

How can I verify the 14" WQHD IPS panel is running at its native 2560 x 1440 resolution after setup?

Open Windows Display Settings and confirm the resolution shows 2560 x 1440 at 100 % scaling; the Intel graphics driver will also report the panel as WQHD IPS.

Does the box contain a Thunderbolt 3 cable for 40Gbps data or dual 4K video, or must I buy one separately?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable for 40Gbps data or dual 4K video is not included and must be purchased separately.
