ThinkPad X220 business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is a 12.5-inch business laptop with a touch display and Windows 7 Home Premium. It runs on an Intel Core i7-2640M processor with a 3.50 GHz turbo frequency, 16GB of DDR3 memory and a 500GB solid-state drive. The HD screen shows 1366x768 resolution using shared system memory for graphics.

Suits mobile professionals needing touch input

This machine suits users who want a durable, portable laptop with a responsive touchscreen and the classic ThinkPad keyboard for long typing sessions. The integrated 10/100/1000Mbps LAN and 802.11b/g/n wireless keep you connected in the office or on the move. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics processor or a higher-resolution panel for colour-critical work should look elsewhere.

16GB DDR3 memory and 500GB SSD

The single specification that decides fit is the combination of 16GB DDR3 RAM and a 500GB SSD, which together determine how many applications run smoothly and how much local data you can store. The system ships with a 64-bit edition of Windows 7 Home Premium. Verify that this memory and storage capacity matches your workload before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What operating system must already be licensed on the machine for the Windows 7 Home Premium install to activate?

The laptop ships with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed and activated, so no separate licence is required.

Will the VGA and DisplayPort outputs drive a legacy 1366x768 monitor alongside the built-in 12.5" touch panel?

Yes, the 1 x VGA and 1 x DisplayPort can mirror or extend to an external 1366x768 display while the internal touchscreen remains active.

How can I verify the Core i7-2640M is reaching its 3.50 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Task Manager in Windows 7, watch the CPU frequency column while running a demanding task, and confirm it climbs to 3.50 GHz.
