Compact business touch laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is a 12.5-inch touchscreen laptop built for mobile professionals. It ships new with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and includes a pen for direct input on the HD 1366x768 display. An Intel Core i7-2640M processor with 3.50 GHz turbo frequency handles office workloads, supported by 4GB of DDR3 memory.

Docking-ready connectivity

A single docking connector lets the X220 share workstations with other ThinkPad T, L and W series units in a hot-desk setup. Three USB ports, Gigabit LAN, 802.11b/g/n wireless and both VGA and DisplayPort outputs cover peripherals and external monitors without extra adapters. The 320GB hard drive stores local files, while shared system memory handles graphics duties.

Suited for legacy Windows 7 workflows

This unit fits buyers who need a lightweight, pen-enabled laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium out of the box. It is not for users who require solid-state storage, more than 4GB of RAM, a higher-resolution screen or a current operating system with ongoing security updates.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5 GHz turbo frequency hold under continuous heavy load?

The Intel Core i7-2640M reaches 3.50 GHz turbo frequency, but sustained workloads may reduce clocks due to thermal limits in the 12.5" chassis.

How loud or hot does the X220 get during all-day operation?

The compact design relies on a single fan; extended use raises surface temperatures and fan noise, especially when the i7-2640M maintains higher frequencies.

Which docking station works with the ThinkPad X220?

The rectangular docking connector on the bottom mates with Lenovo ThinkPad Series 3 docks used across T, L and W series models.
