Built for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Touch is a 12.5-inch business laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It combines an Intel Core i7-2640M processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a 250GB hard drive. The HD touch display supports pen input for precise interaction on the go.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core processor reaches a turbo frequency of 3.50 GHz to handle demanding applications. Shared system memory manages graphics tasks without a discrete video card. The 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN and gigabit Ethernet keep network throughput steady during long sessions. Active Protection System helps safeguard the drive if the unit is moved while working.

Durability and daily connectivity

The redesigned hinge uses stronger magnetic latching to withstand frequent opening. A docking connector allows quick transitions between desk setups shared with other ThinkPad series. Three USB ports, VGA and DisplayPort outputs cover legacy and modern peripherals. The spill-resistant keyboard includes LED mute indicators for clear conference-call control.

Questions about this item

Does the Core i7-2640M run hot or loud when the laptop is used for a full workday?

The processor reaches 3.50 GHz turbo speed under load, so the cooling fan will spin up during sustained tasks; the chassis is designed for business mobility with Active Protection System and a reinforced hinge.

Which cables or peripherals must I already have to connect external displays to the VGA and DisplayPort outputs?

You need a VGA cable for the VGA port and a DisplayPort cable or adapter for the DisplayPort output; the dock connector also works with ThinkPad T, L and W series docks.

Will the 802.11b/g/n wireless card work reliably alongside an older 802.11g router I still use at home?

Yes, the 802.11b/g/n adapter is backward compatible with 802.11g networks, so it will connect to your existing router at the older standard's speeds.
