Lenovo ThinkPad X240 Business Ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is a 12.5 inch business ultrabook built for mobile professionals. It runs Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core i7-4600U processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory. A 128GB solid state drive provides the primary storage. The chassis meets MIL-SPEC durability standards for rugged use.

Suits frequent travellers needing a durable light

This ultrabook fits users who value a spill-resistant backlit keyboard and a carbon fibre roll cage tested against shock, vibration and temperature extremes. The 1366 x 768 IPS display and Bluetooth 4.0 support basic productivity and wireless peripherals. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel or more internal storage should look at other models.

128GB SSD capacity

The 128GB solid state drive determines how much data you can keep on the device without external media. It boots Windows 7 Professional and loads applications quickly but fills fast with large media libraries or virtual machines. Verify that this capacity matches your workload before purchase.

Questions about this item

What does the 3.3 GHz boost on the Core i7-4600U mean for everyday workloads?

The processor can reach 3.3 GHz in short bursts, so office apps and web browsing stay responsive while the base speed handles sustained tasks without overheating.

How does Bluetooth 4.0 limit the wireless peripherals I can use?

Bluetooth 4.0 supports mice, keyboards and headsets, but its lower throughput caps file-transfer speed and range compared with newer versions.

Will the 12.5 inch chassis accept a standard 2.5 inch drive upgrade?

The unit ships with a 128GB SSD and no hard-drive bay, so a 2.5 inch drive cannot be added without removing the existing solid-state drive.
