Business ultrabook with touch display

The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is a 12.5-inch ultrabook built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. It combines an Intel Core i7-4600U processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a 128GB solid-state drive. The 1920x1080 FHD IPS panel adds touch input for direct screen interaction.

Carbon-fibre chassis tested to eight MIL-SPEC

A carbon-fibre roll cage and structural reinforcement let the X240 withstand high pressure, humidity, vibration, temperature extremes, low pressure at 15,000 ft and dust. The spill-resistant, six-row keyboard includes backlighting for low-light work. Connectivity covers Bluetooth 4.0, two USB ports and a headphone/microphone combo jack.

Sustained productivity from a 3.3 GHz dual-core CPU

The Core i7-4600U runs at up to 3.3 GHz with 4 MB cache, keeping everyday workloads responsive over long sessions. The 128GB SSD maintains consistent read speeds without thermal throttling. Passive cooling in the ultralight chassis handles typical office multitasking without fan noise becoming intrusive.

Questions about this item

Does the Core i7-4600U throttle when running at 3.3 GHz for long periods?

The processor has a 4M cache and a maximum turbo frequency of 3.3 GHz, so sustained loads will trigger thermal management to stay within its power envelope.

How loud or hot does the X240 get during an all-day workload?

The carbon-fibre roll cage and MIL-SPEC tested chassis dissipate heat from the i7-4600U and DDR3 memory, keeping fan noise low in typical office use.

What must I already own to use the 12.5" FHD touch screen and fingerprint reader?

The laptop includes Windows 10 Pro, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB ports and a headset jack, so only a power source and any USB peripherals you prefer are required.
