ThinkPad X240 12.5" FHD Touch Ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is a 12.5 inch business ultrabook with a Full HD IPS touch display. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-4600U processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory. A 500GB hard drive provides storage. The chassis is MIL-SPEC tested for durability.

Suits mobile professionals needing touch input

Workers who want a lightweight, durable laptop with a 1920x1080 touchscreen and fingerprint reader will appreciate this X240. Buyers who need a solid state drive for faster boot times should consider other options. Users requiring more than two USB ports or a dedicated graphics card should look elsewhere.

500GB mechanical hard drive

This model uses a traditional 500GB HDD rather than an SSD, so application loading and system startup are slower than flash-based alternatives. The drive offers substantial capacity for documents and media. Verify that rotational storage meets your performance expectations before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR3 model or look for a higher-capacity version?

This unit ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory; no larger RAM configuration is offered for this SKU.

What does the Core i7-4600U speed of up to 3.3 GHz mean for daily workloads?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.3 GHz on turbo, so office apps and web browsing run smoothly, while sustained loads settle at the base clock to manage heat in the 12.5" chassis.

Which USB standard do the two ports use, and what throughput ceiling does that set?

Both ports are USB 3.0, capping real-world transfer rates at roughly 5 Gbit/s when connected to compatible peripherals.
