Lenovo ThinkStation P300 workstation i7-4790 3.6GHz

This Lenovo ThinkStation P300 workstation is built around an Intel Core i7-4790 processor running at 3.6 GHz with 16 GB of DDR3 memory. A 180 GB solid-state drive holds the operating system and applications, while a 2 GB NVIDIA Quadro K620 graphics card drives professional visual workloads. Windows 10 Professional is pre-installed and the system includes Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, four USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. No optical drive is fitted.

Professionals running 3D CAD.

The Quadro K620 and 16 GB of memory suit entry-level 3D design, engineering visualisation and multi-monitor office setups. Buyers who need more graphics memory for larger models or GPU compute should consider other configurations. The single-processor design and DDR3 platform limit memory expansion compared with newer workstation architectures. Users requiring an internal optical drive or additional drive bays will need to verify chassis options separately.

Questions about this item

How do I install the NVIDIA Quadro K620 graphics card and what step is often missed?

The Quadro K620 uses a PCI Express slot; the step people forget is connecting the monitor to the card's output instead of the motherboard video port.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR3 memory need later?

DDR3 modules are not user-serviceable for wear; if capacity becomes limiting you would add matching DDR3 sticks up to the board's maximum.
