Lenovo WEC01 720p webcam for everyday calls

The Lenovo WEC01 is a clip-on webcam that delivers 1280 x 720 video and includes a built-in microphone for voice capture. It connects through a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5 mm jack, using the universal UVC protocol so no driver installation is required. The camera suits video calls, conferences, live streams and online teaching on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android devices.

Sustained 720p capture with fixed-focus optics

During long sessions the sensor maintains a steady 720p feed without software overhead, because the UVC implementation offloads processing to the host system. The fixed-focus lens keeps subjects sharp at typical desk distances, while the integrated microphone continues recording audio without a separate gain control. Heat output stays low thanks to the USB 2.0 power budget, so the plastic housing remains comfortable to touch.

Check USB port type and microphone jack availability

Verify that your computer provides a standard USB 2.0 Type-A socket and a separate 3.5 mm microphone input if you plan to use the analogue audio path. Some modern laptops combine audio into a single 3.5 mm headset jack, which may not accept the webcam’s dedicated microphone plug. Ensure your operating system is among the listed supported versions before ordering.

Questions about this item

Does the 720p webcam draw enough USB 2.0 power to run all day without overheating?

The camera uses the standard USB 2.0 bus for power and has no external supply; it stays cool during continuous video calls because the 720p sensor and built-in microphone draw very little current.

What must my computer already have for the 3.5 mm microphone connection to work?

Your device needs a 3.5 mm audio-in jack alongside a free USB 2.0 port; the webcam plugs into both simultaneously for video and microphone input.

Will the UVC webcam work on my older PC still running Windows 7 or Linux kernel 2.6.24?

Yes, the camera supports Windows 7 and Linux 2.6.24 and above through the universal UVC driver, so no extra software is required on those systems.
