Compact monochrome laser for desktop offices

The Lexmark MS312dn is a monochrome laser printer built for desktop use on plain paper. It prints at up to 35 pages per minute with a first page out in as little as 6.5 seconds. An 800 MHz dual-core processor and 128 MB of memory handle complex documents. Automatic duplex printing is included.

Step up from single-function inkjets

This model replaces single-function inkjets or slower lasers that lack automatic duplexing or network connectivity. The jump is worth it when monthly volumes approach 2,500 pages and you need reliable paper handling with a 50,000-page maximum duty cycle. It also adds AirPrint support for iOS devices.

Fits a desk with room for an optional second tray

The standard 300-sheet input and output trays keep the footprint small on a desk. An optional second tray raises total input capacity to 850 sheets for fewer paper refills. Wi-Fi connectivity untethers the printer from a wired network port. A two-line LCD display provides status and configuration on the device.

Questions about this item

What desktop space does the MS312dn need to sit on?

The MS312dn is a desktop laser printer with a standard 300-sheet input tray and 300-sheet output bin, so allow enough flat surface for the unit plus clearance to open the front cover for toner access.

Which step is often missed when setting up the MS312dn for network printing?

After powering on, use the two-line LCD display to join the Wi-Fi network or connect the Ethernet cable, then install the driver from the supplied CD or download so AirPrint and network discovery work correctly.

When will the MS312dn need its imaging unit replaced?

The return-program imaging unit is rated for up to 60000 pages; replace it when print quality degrades or the printer prompts for a new unit.
