Departmental mono laser printer

The Lexmark T654DN is a desktop monochrome laser printer built for high-volume plain-paper output. It prints at up to 55 pages per minute with a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. A 600 MHz processor and 1.25 GB of memory handle complex print jobs without slowing the queue. Automatic duplex printing and a 300000-page monthly duty cycle suit busy departmental environments.

Installation and common issues

The unit arrives as a desktop device with two input trays providing 650 sheets of standard capacity, expandable to 4300 sheets. Connectivity is handled through USB and Ethernet ports, and USB direct printing is supported for walk-up jobs. Installing the driver package on each workstation and configuring the network port are the main setup steps. Misconfigured IP settings or outdated drivers are the most frequent causes of jobs stalling in the queue.

Pre-order checks

Verify that your network infrastructure provides a wired Ethernet connection and that your print server or workstations can run the Lexmark driver for your operating system. Confirm the physical footprint fits the intended desk space, as the printer is a desktop form factor. Ensure the paper sizes you use — such as A4, Letter, Legal, A5, Executive, Folio, B5 (JIS), Statement, Universal, and the listed envelope formats — are covered by the supported media list. Buyers who need colour output or scanning functions should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the printer is operating at its rated 55 ppm after setup?

Print a multi-page test job and time the output; the printer should produce 55 monochrome pages per minute at 1200 x 1200 dpi with automatic duplex engaged.

What comes in the box and what must be purchased separately?

The desktop unit includes two input trays for 650 sheets standard capacity, Ethernet and USB ports, 1.25 GB memory, and Blue Angel certification; toner cartridges and extra paper trays for up to 4300 sheets are sold separately.

Which memory configuration should I choose for the T654DN?

Only one configuration exists — 1.25 GB standard and maximum — so no memory choice is needed; select paper-handling accessories instead to reach the 4300-sheet maximum input capacity.
