RangePlus Wireless Notebook Adapter

The Linksys WPC100 is a CardBus wireless adapter that adds 802.11b/g connectivity to notebook computers. It installs into a PC Card slot and supports WEP and WPA2 security with up to 256-bit encryption. The adapter is certified for Windows Vista and works with Windows 2000 SP4 and XP SP2 or later. A setup wizard and Plug-and-Play operation simplify installation.

Upgrade from no wireless or older 802.11b only

This adapter replaces a missing or basic 802.11b card to provide faster 802.11g speeds on compatible networks. The jump is worth it when your notebook lacks built-in wireless or when you need WPA2 security that older cards do not support. It does not help buyers who need 802.11n throughput or a modern ExpressCard interface.

Handles typical browsing and office tasks

The card comfortably manages web browsing, email and light file transfers on 802.11g networks with transmitted power of 15dBm to 17dBm. Sensitivity reaches -88dBm to -66dBm on 802.11g and -85dBm to -60dBm on 802.11n modulation. It runs out of headroom for high-bandwidth streaming or large backups that demand newer standards. Operating range is 0ºC to 55ºC with 10-85% non-condensing humidity.
