Converts a USB-C PD charger into a 4.5x3.0 mm HP barrel power source with dual-chip negotiation up to 100 W
This converter cable lets owners of compatible HP laptops charge from a USB-C Power Delivery source. It carries a female USB-C port on one end and a 4.5x3.0mm barrel tip on the other. Built-in PD and E-Mark chips negotiate the correct voltage. The nylon-braided jacket protects the tinned copper conductors.
The integrated PD Inducing Chip requests the required voltage from the charger while the E-Mark Chip communicates cable capability. Together they enable the adapter to draw up to 100W from a suitable USB-C PD brick. Without both chips the laptop would not recognise the source or would limit current.
The cable supports HP EliteBook 820 830 840 848 850 G3 G4 G5 models and HP Chromebooks that use the 4.5x3.0mm tip and draw 90W or less. A 90W or higher USB-C PD charger is required; lower-wattage chargers will not deliver sufficient power. Laptops needing more than 100W or using a different barrel size cannot use this adapter.

The gold-plated HP 4.5x3.0mm DC tip resists corrosion; the nylon-braided jacket protects the tinned-copper conductors from daily flexing, so no scheduled tip replacement is required.
The built-in PD Inducing Chip and E-Mark Chip negotiate a 100 W maximum with the USB-C charger, so sustained loads above 100 W are blocked at the protocol level.
Tinned-copper conductors and the dual-chip design keep resistive loss low; the cable stays only slightly warm during continuous 90 W operation.
