Loctite 561 Thread Sealant Stick

Loctite 463973 is a white semi-solid stick sealant for general-purpose metal pipe threads. The anaerobic formula cures in the absence of air to form a durable seal. It is suited for maintenance technicians and plumbers who need a portable, mess-free thread sealing option.

Maximum Operating Pressure 10000 psi

The sealant withstands liquid pressures up to 10000 psi across a temperature range of -65 to 300 degrees F. It meets ANSI/NSF Standard 61 requirements for drinking water system components. This pressure and temperature rating is the primary specification that determines suitability for a given piping system.

Brush-On Stick Application

The 0.7 oz stick allows direct application to threads without separate brushes or tools. Clean-up requires Loctite solvent if removal is needed before full cure. The product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. It is restricted from sale in certain states.

Questions about this item

How does the 10,000 psi liquid pressure rating hold up once the sealant cures on metal threads?

The anaerobic cure locks the seal in place so it maintains a 10,000 psi liquid seal on metal threads across the full -65 °F to 300 °F range.

What does ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification actually limit when the stick is used on potable-water lines?

Standard 61 certifies the cured material for contact with drinking water, so the sealant can be used on metal pipe threads in potable-water systems.

Will the 0.7 oz semi-solid stick fit a standard ½-inch pipe thread without extra tools?

The stick applies directly by hand to the threads; its semi-solid form lets you coat ½-inch and other common metal threads without a brush or gun.
