G512 Carbon Mechanical Keyboard

The Logitech G512 Carbon is a wired mechanical keyboard built for gamers who prefer tactile Brown switches. It features a full 104-key layout with individual RGB backlighting and a USB 2.0 pass-through port for connecting a mouse or headset.

USB 2.0 Interface Limits

The keyboard connects via USB 2.0 and provides a second USB 2.0 port on the chassis. Bandwidth is limited to the USB 2.0 standard, so high-speed storage devices plugged into the pass-through will operate at reduced throughput compared to a native USB 3.0 port.

Compatibility Check

Verify that your system runs Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 and has a free USB Type-A port for the keyboard connector. The short 0.3 metre cable may require a rear motherboard port or a hub if your front-panel ports are recessed or already occupied. FN-key macros require the Logitech G HUB software to programme.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the Brown switch or the Blue switch for quieter typing?

The Brown switch provides a tactile bump without the audible click of the Blue switch, making it quieter for shared spaces while retaining tactile feedback.

What does the 1.9 mm actuation point mean for in-game responsiveness?

The 1.9 mm trigger stroke registers keystrokes early in the press, reducing the distance your fingers must travel for each command during fast gameplay.

How does the USB 2.0 connection affect the keyboard's polling rate and lighting?

USB 2.0 provides sufficient bandwidth for standard polling rates and full per-key RGB lighting control through the Logitech G HUB software.
