2.5" SATA HDD/SSD USB 3.0 Enclosure

This enclosure turns a 2.5 inch SATA I/II/III hard drive or SSD into a portable USB 3.0 drive. It accepts 7mm and 9.5mm drives up to 6TB and connects to a PC, laptop, router or PS4. No driver installation is required and the drive can be swapped in seconds without tools.

Suits drive-reuse and recovery tasks.

Users who want to access data from an old SATA drive or boot a recovered disk will find it straightforward. The enclosure is plug-and-play on Windows 2000 through 10, Mac OS 9.1/10.8.4 and later, and Linux. It cannot accommodate drives that lack a SATA interface.

USB 3.0 5Gbps with UASP support

The USB 3.0 interface delivers up to 5Gbps and UASP can add a further 20% throughput when both host and drive support it. An LED indicator shows power and activity status. The ABS shell measures 4.9x3x0.5in and includes an internal shock-absorbing pad.

Questions about this item

Does the USB 3.0 link become the bottleneck before the SATA drive reaches its own limit?

The enclosure uses a USB 3.0 interface rated at 5Gbps, so sustained transfers cannot exceed that bandwidth even if the installed SATA drive is faster.

How warm does the ABS plastic case get during continuous operation?

The enclosure has no active cooling; heat from the drive dissipates through the plastic shell and the internal shockproof sponge pad.

What must the host device provide for the enclosure to work without an extra power adapter?

A standard USB 3.0 port supplies both data and power for the 2.5 inch SATA drive; no separate adapter is required.
