What this adapter does

The LORDWORLD 2230 E-Key to 2242 Modular Adapter lets you fit a 2230 E-Key or A+E-Key wireless card into a 2242 M.2 slot. It is designed for builders who need to install a shorter Wi-Fi module in a longer keyed connector without changing the motherboard.

Key specification that decides fit

This adapter uses an E-key pinout and will not work with B-key, M-key or A-key modules. It also does not support mini-PCIe cards. Only 2230 E-Key or A+E-Key wireless cards are compatible with the 2242 extension.

Installation notes

The board is a bare PCB with male and female connectors; no wireless card is included. Alignment is straightforward, but forcing the wrong key type will damage the contacts. Verify your card keying before inserting the adapter.

Questions about this item

How does the 2230-to-2242 extension affect a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 card once installed?

The adapter extends a 2230 E-key or A+E-key wireless card to the 2242 form factor so it fits a longer M.2 slot while keeping the original E-key pinout and protecting the card's contacts.

Which M.2 keying does this adapter support and what does that limit?

It uses an E-key pinout only, so it works with 2230 E-key or A+E-key Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 cards but will not work with B-key, M-key, A-key or mini-PCIe devices.

What physical space and mounting does the PCB require?

The bare PCB converts the 22 mm by 30 mm card to a 22 mm by 42 mm footprint, matching a standard 2242 M.2 slot; no extra mounting hardware is included.
