Compatible MacBook Pro Adapter

This LORDWORLD adapter connects an NVMe PCI Express drive to the NGFF M.2 slot in a MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch A1708 from 2016 or 2017. It lets owners of those machines install faster solid-state storage without soldering or firmware changes. The card is listed as new and described by the manufacturer as good quality.

Owners of A1708 Models

The adapter is built for the specific 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro identified as A1708 released in 2016 and 2017. Users with other MacBook sizes, earlier or later model years, or machines that already use the native NVMe connector will not be able to use this card. It also does not suit builds outside the Apple ecosystem.

NVMe PCI Express Interface

The single specification that determines compatibility is the NVMe PCI Express interface required by the host slot. The adapter only passes this protocol through to an NGFF M.2 form factor. If the notebook slot or the replacement drive uses a different signalling standard, the adapter will not work.

Questions about this item

Will this adapter let an NVMe drive run at full speed in a 13-inch 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro?

The adapter connects an NVMe drive to the MacBook Pro A1708 PCI Express slot, so the drive operates at the speed the laptop's own controller allows.

Does the card use the same PCI Express interface as the original Apple SSD?

Yes, it plugs directly into the A1708's native PCI Express connector, matching the electrical interface the factory SSD uses.

Will the board fit inside the 13-inch Retina chassis without modification?

It is built to the A1708 form factor for the 13-inch 2016 and 2017 models, so it mounts in the original SSD slot without extra brackets.
