Replacement Microphone for Astro A40

The LORDWORLD A40 is a detachable boom microphone designed to replace a broken or lost mic on Astro A40 and A40 TR gaming headsets. It connects via a 3.5 mm gold-plated plug and works with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac and mobile devices. The flexible silicone-covered metal hose lets you position the capsule close to your mouth for clearer voice pickup. A wind foam cover is included to reduce breath noise.

Compatibility and Headroom

The microphone plugs straight into the headset’s existing 3.5 mm jack, so no extra adapters or software are required. It handles in-game chat, streaming and voice calls on the listed platforms without additional power. The fixed boom length and single 3.5 mm connection mean it cannot be used with headsets that use proprietary connectors, USB-only audio or separate mic and headphone ports. Users needing wireless freedom or multi-device switching will find this wired replacement limiting.

Upgrade Context

This unit replaces the original Astro A40 boom microphone when it fails or goes missing, restoring the headset’s original voice quality. The gold-plated plug and reinforced hose aim to improve durability over the stock cable. The jump is worthwhile if the headset’s ear cups and headband are still in good condition and you want a direct, solder-free repair. Buyers whose headsets have damaged speakers, worn cushions or broken frames should consider a full headset replacement instead.

Questions about this item

Will this replacement microphone fit the original Astro A40 headset I already own?

Yes, it is designed as a direct replacement for the Astro A40 and A40 TR headsets, using the same 3.5mm connection.

How can I confirm the gold-plated 3.5mm plug is making a solid connection after I install it?

Insert the plug fully until it clicks; the gold plating reduces signal loss, so you should hear clear voice audio without static or intermittent dropouts.

Does the package include the wind foam cover, or do I need to buy that separately?

The microphone comes with a wind foam cover already fitted on the boom, so no separate purchase is required for that accessory.
