External GPU Dock for Thunderbolt Laptops
This LORDWORLD dock adds a full-size PCIe 3.0 x16 slot to any Windows 10 or 11 laptop, Linux machine or compatible console with a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port. The JHL6340 controller delivers up to 22Gbps bandwidth for external NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards ranging from a GTX 450 to an RTX 5090. Intel GPUs are not recommended.
Upgrade from Integrated or Low-End Discrete Graphics
The dock replaces a laptop's built-in GPU when heavier workloads such as video editing, AI art generation or AAA gaming demand more performance. The jump is worth it when the host system has a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connection and the user can supply a desktop graphics card with available NVIDIA or AMD drivers. Some USB4 consoles may need a BIOS update before the dock functions.
Flexible Power Inputs for Desktop Cards
Four power options let the builder choose one source: an 8-pin CPU connector, a Molex plug, Power Delivery 3.0 at 12V up to 60W, or a DC5521 jack at 12V up to 120W. A 24-pin power jumper cable and a 23.6 inch Thunderbolt 4 cable are included. The host only needs a Thunderbolt port and an Intel or AMD processor; no extra chassis or cooling is required by the dock itself.

Questions about this item
What physical space does the dock need for a graphics card?
The dock provides a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot that accepts any NVIDIA GPU from the GTX 450 up to the RTX 5090 or equivalent AMD card, so the card must fit a standard full-height, full-length slot and its own power connectors.
How is the Thunderbolt 4 cable connected and what step is often missed?
Plug the included 23.6 inch Thunderbolt 4 cable into the dock’s Thunderbolt port and the host’s Thunderbolt 3, 4 or USB4 port; the step people miss is selecting one power source — CPU 4+4-pin, Molex, PD 3.0 at 12V 60W or DC5521 at 12V 120W — and attaching the 24-pin jumper cable before turning on the GPU.
What maintenance or replacement will the dock need over time?
The JHL6340 controller and Thunderbolt 4 cable are solid-state with no moving parts, so no scheduled maintenance is required; only the external GPU or its own fans may need replacement later.
