Portable SSD enclosure for NVMe and SATA drives
The LORDWORLD adapter turns an M.2 solid-state drive into an external USB-C storage device. It accepts NVMe M-key and B+M-key modules as well as SATA-based NGFF B+M-key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. A tool-free latch secures the SSD with a rubber fastener, and the aluminium shell acts as a heatsink with thermal silicone for passive cooling. Compatible with Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android.
Thermals, noise and power
The aluminium housing and thermal pad draw heat away from the drive without any moving parts, so the enclosure runs silently. Power comes entirely from the USB-C connection, adding no external power requirement. Under sustained transfers the case remains warm to the touch but stays within safe operating limits for the supported SSDs.
Deciding specification: 10 Gbps NVMe throughput
With an NVMe drive the enclosure delivers a 10 Gbps link and up to 1000 MB/s sequential read and write. SATA drives operate at 5 Gbps with up to 450 MB/s. The maximum supported capacity is 4 TB. If your workflow needs the faster NVMe bandwidth, choose an NVMe module; if you only have SATA M.2 drives the lower ceiling applies.

Questions about this item
How do I install an M.2 NVMe or SATA drive into the tool-free enclosure, and what step do people often miss?
Slide the SSD into the M-key or B+M-key slot, apply the included thermal silicone pad onto the controller, then snap the aluminum lid shut until the rubber fastener clicks — skipping the pad leaves the drive without heatsink contact.
What part will need replacement first if I use this enclosure daily with a 4 TB NVMe drive?
The thermal silicone pad between the SSD and aluminum heatsink degrades over time; replace it when it loses tackiness to keep the drive at the rated 1000 MB/s sustained speed.
At what point does sustained throughput hit a ceiling during long sequential transfers?
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps interface caps continuous NVMe reads and writes at 1000 MB/s, while SATA drives stop at 450 MB/s regardless of the SSD’s own rating.
