Target Mac Pro SSD Upgrade
This M-Key adapter lets owners of a 2016 or 2017 13-inch Mac Pro A1708 install a 2230 or 2242 NVME SSD. It converts the proprietary slot so a standard M.2 drive fits mechanically and electrically. The card, screws, nuts and T5 and P5 drivers are included in the package.
Sustained Operation
The adapter is a passive mechanical and electrical bridge; it adds no controller or thermal interface of its own. Drive temperatures and write endurance therefore depend entirely on the chosen NVME module and the Mac Pro’s internal airflow. No active cooling or throttling behaviour is introduced by the card itself.
Pre-Install Checklist
Verify that the Mac Pro is a 2016 or 2017 13-inch model identified as A1708 before ordering. Confirm the replacement SSD is an M-Key NVME device in the 2230 or 2242 form factor; other lengths or key types will not fit. The kit supplies the necessary fasteners and screwdrivers for the swap.

Questions about this item
Does the convert card add any extra heat or power draw when running all day inside a 2016 Mac Pro A1708?
The adapter is a passive circuit board with no active components, so it does not generate additional heat or increase power consumption beyond the NVME SSD itself.
What NVME SSD sizes must I already own for this card to work in my 13-inch 2017 Mac Pro?
You need a 2230 or 2242 M-Key NVME SSD; the card only accepts those two form factors.
Will the adapter let me keep using my original Apple SSD alongside the new NVME drive in the same 2016 Mac Pro?
No, the card replaces the factory SSD slot, so only one NVME drive can be installed at a time.
