NEMA L7-20P locking plug
This LORDWORLD NEMA L7-20P is a straight male AC connector rated for 20 amps at 277 volts. It carries an ETL listing and meets UL 498 and CSA C22.2 No. 42 standards. The yellow industrial-grade housing uses a rotated T-shaped blade that only mates with a matching NEMA L7-20R receptacle.
Wiring limits by cord gauge
The plug accepts 18 to 10 AWG three-conductor cord in types such as SJT, SJTO, ST and STO. At 277 volts the allowable current drops with smaller wire: 20 amps on 12 or 10 AWG, 18 amps on 14 or 13 AWG, 13 amps on 16 or 15 AWG and 10 amps on 17 or 18 AWG. Terminals are marked X, Y, Z for line conductors, W for grounded and G for grounding.
5540 watt capacity and headroom
At the full 20 amp rating the connector delivers 5540 watts, suitable for generators and heavy-duty equipment. The twist-lock action secures the connection against vibration. It is not suited for loads that exceed 20 amps or for receptacles with a different NEMA configuration.

Questions about this item
What cord gauge should I pick for the full 20 A rating?
Use 12 AWG or 10 AWG three-conductor cord to carry the full 20 A at 277 V; 14/13 AWG is limited to 18 A, 16/15 AWG to 13 A and 17/18 AWG to 10 A.
What does the 5540 W figure mean when the plug is wired into equipment?
It is the maximum apparent power the connector can deliver at its 20 A, 277 V rating, so any connected load must not exceed 5540 W.
Which locking standard does the NEMA L7-20P follow and what does it prevent?
The plug follows the NEMA L7-20P twist-lock standard; its rotated T-shaped blade prevents accidental mating with a non-matching 20 A 277 V receptacle.
