LORDWORLD NVME M-Key 2230 to 2280 Angled Extension Adapter
Angled adapter extends a 2230 NVME slot to accept a 2280 NVME drive for ROG Ally storage upgrades
- Enables full-size 2280 NVME SSD installation in ROG Ally
- PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link preserves native drive performance
- Angled M-Key 2230 to 2280 extension fits tight chassis
- Simple 20-minute swap requires only cloning and replacement
- Pure NVME pass-through — no SATA conversion or protocol change
What this adapter does
This angled M-Key extension adapter lets a 2280 NVME solid-state drive replace the shorter 2230 module in a ROG Ally handheld. It carries PCI-Express 4.0 x4 signals so the longer drive runs at full speed without protocol conversion.
How it fits the build
The adapter occupies the Ally's internal M-Key slot and angles the 2280 drive into the adjacent cavity, avoiding a full chassis redesign. It does not convert NVME to SATA or SATA to NVME, so only NVME drives are supported.
What the bundle changes
No cloning software or drive enclosure is included; you must supply a 2280 NVME SSD and handle system migration yourself. The package provides only the angled circuit board, leaving drive selection and data transfer entirely to the builder.

Questions about this item
Does the PCI-Express 4.0 x4 link throttle under sustained heavy I/O?
The adapter is a passive PCB carrying PCI-Express 4.0 x4 signals; thermal throttling depends on the installed 2280 SSD and the ROG Ally cooling, not on the adapter itself.
How warm does the adapter get during all-day gaming?
The flex circuit adds negligible heat; any warmth comes from the 2280 SSD and the handheld's own thermal solution.
What SSD form factor and keying must I already own for this to work?
You need an M-Key 2280 NVME SSD; the adapter cannot convert SATA or fit 2230 drives.
