SFF-8087 to 4× SATA breakout cable
This LORDWORLD cable converts a single internal Mini-SAS 36-pin SFF-8087 male port into four SATA 7-pin female connectors. It links a SAS HBA or RAID controller to up to four SATA hard drives or a backplane. The 1-metre braided assembly includes a locking latch on the Mini-SAS end for a secure fit. A two-pack provides spare or duplicate runs for multi-array builds.
6 Gb/s per drive ceiling and forward-only wiring
Each SATA leg tops out at 6 Gb/s, so the aggregate throughput cannot exceed the controller's four-lane limit. The forward breakout design means the SFF-8087 plug must face the controller side; connecting it to a backplane will not work. No signal translation or port multiplication occurs, so every drive appears as a direct target to the host adapter.
Replaces loose fan-out cables
Builders moving from individual SATA cables or non-locking fan-outs gain labelled legs, a latch and a managed braid that eases routing. The upgrade is worth it when a controller has free SFF-8087 ports and the chassis needs four drives per port without cable clutter. It does not add ports where none exist, so systems without a compatible HBA see no benefit.

Questions about this item
Which length should I pick between the .5 meter and 3.3 ft versions?
Choose the .5 meter cable for tight chassis routing or the 3.3 ft cable when drives sit farther from the controller; both use the same SFF-8087 male to four SATA female breakout.
What does the 6 Gb/s per drive figure mean once installed?
Each of the four SATA connectors can transfer up to 6 Gb/s, so a single drive sees SATA III speed while the combined link runs over the 36-pin Mini SAS interface.
What does the SFF-8087 interface cap in practice?
The SFF-8087 36-pin male plugs into a SAS HBA or RAID controller and breaks out to four SATA 7-pin females, limiting the link to 6 Gb/s per attached drive.
