Front-panel Type-E adapter
This 20 cm adapter converts a motherboard 19-pin USB 3.0 header to a single USB 3.1 Type-E front-panel port. It is built for PC builders who want a modern Type-E connector on a chassis that only provides the older 19-pin header. The short cable keeps internal routing tidy in compact cases.
Suits single-port front panels; not for dual USB 3.0
The adapter works when the case or bracket has one Type-E front-panel port fed by a single 19-pin header. It cannot split that header into two independent USB 3.0 connections because the Type-E interface is single-channel. Builders needing two simultaneous USB 3.0 ports from one header should look at a different solution.
10 Gbps headroom with USB 3.0 fallback
The Type-E port can pass up to 10 Gbps from an SSD or HDD, limited by the motherboard's own Type-E speed. It carries no audio, video, docking, power-delivery or DisplayPort alt-mode signals. Depending on the 19-pin cable used, the front Type-C side may deliver USB 3.0 or USB 2.0, while the reverse side is USB 2.0 only; dual Type-A cables give one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port.

Questions about this item
Does my motherboard need a 19-pin or 20-pin USB 3.0 header for this adapter to connect?
Yes, the adapter plugs into a motherboard 19/20-pin USB 3.0 front-panel header and presents a USB 3.1 Type-E port for the front panel cable.
If I keep an older 19-pin to dual Type-A front panel cable, will both ports run at USB 3.0?
No, with a 19-pin to dual Type-A cable one port will operate at USB 3.0 and the other at USB 2.0.
How can I confirm the adapter is delivering the expected 10 Gbps link speed after installation?
Connect a USB 3.1 Gen 2 SSD or HDD to the front panel Type-C port and verify the drive negotiates a 10 Gbps connection in the OS device manager or benchmark tool.
