Compact microSD reader with USB-C OTG
The LORDWORLD USB 3.0 Micro SD Card Reader includes a USB-C 2.0 OTG adapter so you can move files between microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards and a computer or phone. It draws power directly from the USB port and works with Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and Mac OS. The memory card is not included.
5 Gbps USB 3.0 interface
The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.0 connection rated for up to 5 Gbps transfer speed. If your device only offers USB 2.0 ports the reader will still function but at the slower 2.0 rate, so check the host port before buying.
Plug-and-play with no driver install
Insert the reader into a USB-A port or attach the USB-C OTG adapter for phones and tablets; the operating system recognises it immediately. The only common issue is a loose card seat — push the microSD card in until it clicks to avoid read errors.

Questions about this item
What does the 5 Gbps headline speed mean when I plug the reader into my laptop?
The 5 Gbps figure is the theoretical maximum of the USB 3.0 interface; actual transfer rates depend on the micro SD card you use and the host controller in your machine.
The USB-C adapter is labelled 2.0 OTG — what does that cap in practice?
The USB-C OTG adapter runs at USB 2.0 speeds, so when you connect through it the reader is limited to the USB 2.0 transfer ceiling.
Will the dongle block the port next to it on a MacBook Air?
The reader and the USB-C OTG adapter are both compact stick-style dongles designed to sit flush with the port, minimising interference with adjacent sockets.
