36-inch lateral file for office storage

The Lorell 60447 is a two-drawer lateral file finished in putty. It measures 36 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 28 inches high. Hanging rails inside each drawer support letter, legal and A4 folders side-to-side. A magnetic label holder on every drawer front keeps contents easy to identify.

Replaces single-drawer or vertical cabinets

Moving from a single-drawer unit doubles the filing capacity in the same floor footprint. The jump is worth it when you need both letter and legal folders accessible without stacking. A core-removable lock and dual locking bars upgrade basic security. Interlock prevents more than one drawer opening at once.

Fits standard office layouts

Four adjustable leveling guides stabilise the cabinet on uneven floors. A reinforced base and internal counterweight stop tipping when a drawer is fully extended. Ball-bearing slides open and close smoothly under full load. The unit meets or exceeds applicable ANSI/BIFMA standards for durability and safety.

Questions about this item

How much floor space does the 36-inch wide cabinet need, including the 18-5/8-inch depth?

The unit measures 36 inches wide by 18-5/8 inches deep, so allow at least that footprint plus clearance for the full-width pull to extend and drawers to open fully.

What is the most common mistake when setting up the four adjustable leveling guides?

Installers often skip fine-tuning all four guides after positioning the cabinet, leaving the interlock system misaligned and drawers binding or refusing to latch.

Which parts of the ball-bearing slide suspension and interlock system typically need attention after heavy use?

The ball-bearing slides may require occasional lubrication to maintain smooth travel, and the interlock mechanism should be checked for debris that could prevent single-drawer operation.
