Product Overview

The Lorell 69398 is a hanging pedestal unit with one box drawer and one file drawer finished in mahogany laminate. It attaches beneath a worksurface to add secured storage without using floor space. The file drawer accommodates both letter and legal hanging files. Ball-bearing suspension and a lockable drawer provide smooth, secure operation.

Ideal User

This pedestal suits professionals who need compact, under-desk filing for active paperwork and want a coordinated mahogany look. It is not for buyers who require multiple file drawers, a freestanding mobile pedestal, or a deeper unit for oversized documents.

Installation Notes

Pre-drilled holes with metal inserts and included brackets allow attachment to the underside of compatible desks or returns. Adjustable floor guides help stabilize the unit on uneven surfaces. The main difficulty is aligning the brackets precisely so the drawer faces sit flush with the worksurface edge.

Questions about this item

What desk or worksurface must I already have to mount the 15-1/2"W x 21-7/8"D pedestal underneath?

The unit is designed to attach to the underside of a desk or return with pre-drilled holes and metal inserts; the mounting surface must accommodate the 15-1/2" width and 21-7/8" depth footprint and support the assembled weight.

Will the ball-bearing suspension and lockable drawers operate smoothly if I keep my existing heavier file load?

The ball-bearing suspension is built for daily use; the file drawer accepts letter- and legal-size hanging files, and the lock secures both drawers, so existing paper loads within those size limits will work normally.

How can I verify the pedestal is level and stable after installation?

Adjust the floor guides until the cabinet sits flush at 18-7/8"H with no rocking; drawers should open and close fully on the ball-bearing slides, and the lock should engage cleanly on both drawers.
