Lateral File Cabinet

The Lorell 69433 is a two-drawer lateral file finished in cherry laminate with a one-inch thick top and PVC edges. It measures 35 inches wide by 22 inches deep by 29-1/2 inches high and includes hangrails for letter and legal hanging files. Drawers extend fully on steel ball bearings and a central lock secures both drawers simultaneously. An anti-tip mechanism prevents more than one drawer opening at once.

Security-Focused Filing

Suits offices that need lockable, high-density filing for mixed paper sizes in a compact footprint. The anti-tip interlock and central locking meet basic physical-security requirements for sensitive documents. Buyers needing fire-rated construction, three or more drawers, or a mobile pedestal should consider other formats. The fixed glides also limit repositioning on uneven floors.

Anti-Tip Interlock

The defining specification is the anti-tip interlock that allows only a single drawer to open at any time. This mechanism prevents the cabinet from tipping forward when a heavily loaded drawer is extended. It is a mandatory safety feature for freestanding lateral files in busy workspaces and distinguishes this unit from non-interlocked alternatives.

Questions about this item

Does the 35" wide cherry lateral file require any wall anchoring or extra hardware to prevent tipping?

No separate anchoring kit is needed; the built-in anti-tip mechanism allows only one drawer to open at a time and the leveling glides keep the unit stable on uneven floors.

Will my existing letter-size and legal-size hanging folders fit the drawers without new rails?

Yes, the two lateral drawers come with hangrails included and accept both letter-size and legal-size hanging files.

How can I confirm the central lock and anti-tip function are working after assembly?

Turn the key to lock the unit, then try to pull both drawers — neither should open; unlock, open one drawer fully, then attempt to open the second — it will stay locked until the first is closed.
