Product Identity

The Lorell 69966 desk shell provides a 72-inch wide walnut work surface for office environments. It suits professionals who need a spacious, single-piece desk for computer equipment and paperwork.

Construction and Stability

A vinyl laminate finish covers the 70.9-inch width with 3mm PVC edges for durability. Metal-to-metal cam-lock connections and adjustable floor guides create a rigid frame that resists wobble on uneven floors.

Build Integration

Pre-drilled holes with metal inserts accept the included brackets for L-shaped or bridge return configurations. The desk shell design leaves the underside clear for user-supplied pedestals, cable management or a keyboard tray.

Questions about this item

How do the pre-drilled holes and metal inserts work when assembling the 72" x 36" desk, and what step causes alignment issues?

The desk uses metal-to-metal cam-lock connections with pre-drilled holes and metal inserts. The step people get wrong is not fully tightening the cam locks in sequence, which leaves the frame slightly uneven before adding the top.

What maintenance will the vinyl walnut surface and 3mm PVC edges need over time?

Wipe the vinyl walnut laminate with a damp cloth and mild cleaner; avoid abrasive pads that can dull the finish. The 3mm PVC edges resist chipping, but inspect them yearly for any lifting at the corners.

At what point do the adjustable floor guides stop compensating for an uneven floor on this 70.9"-wide desk?

The adjustable floor guides have limited thread travel; once the floor slope exceeds that range, the desk will rock. On a 70.9" span, even a slight remaining tilt becomes noticeable at the far corner.
