What this pencil cup is for

The Lorell 84149BX is a black steel mesh pencil cup measuring 3.5 inches high by 3.9 inches wide. It holds pens, pencils and similar desk tools in a compact organiser suited to home or office desks. The powder-coat finish gives a clean look while the double-rimmed edges keep the rim smooth.

What it replaces and when to switch

It replaces makeshift mugs, jars or plastic trays that tip over or clutter the workspace. The steel mesh construction resists dents and cracks better than thin plastic cups. The jump is worth it when you want a stable, recyclable holder that keeps writing instruments upright and visible.

Practical limits of the steel mesh design

The open mesh lets dust and small debris fall through, so very fine items such as paper clips or staples can slip out. The fixed 3.5 by 3.9 inch footprint limits capacity to standard-length pens and pencils. Longer tools such as rulers or brushes will not stand securely in this cup.

Questions about this item

What desk space does the 3.5-inch high by 3.9-inch wide cup occupy?

The pencil cup stands 3.5 inches tall and measures 3.9 inches across, so it fits in a small footprint on any flat desktop surface.

How is the Lorell 84149 mesh cup set up on a desk?

Simply place the cup on a level area of the desk; the double-rimmed steel mesh base sits flat without fasteners, and the common mistake is putting it on an uneven surface where it can wobble.

Will the powder-coat finish on the steel mesh need recoating or rust protection over time?

The powder-coat finish is designed to resist corrosion under normal indoor use, so no recoating or rust treatment is required during the product's life.
