Three-Drawer Lateral File for Office Filing

The Lorell 88029 provides three full-width drawers that accept letter, legal and A4 documents in a side-to-side orientation. A core-removable lock with dual locking bars secures confidential files, while an interlock mechanism prevents more than one drawer from opening at once. Ball-bearing slides and full-width pulls give smooth, quiet operation for daily use.

Capacity and Safety Limits

Each drawer holds standard hanging rails for lateral filing, and the counterweight design keeps the cabinet stable when a single drawer is extended. The unit meets applicable ANSI/BIFMA standards for strength and durability, so it handles typical office document loads without tipping. Overloading multiple drawers simultaneously or storing non-paper items can exceed the tested safety margin.

Light Gray Steel Finish with Leveling Glides

The cabinet measures 36 by 18.6 by 40.3 inches and is finished in light gray steel that includes recycled content. Four adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors, ensuring the drawers align and the lock engages properly on any surface.

Questions about this item

Will the 36-inch wide lateral file sit flush against a wall while still allowing all three drawers to open fully?

The unit is 18.6 inches deep, so drawers extend forward from the cabinet face; you only need clearance in front of the file, not behind it.

How can I confirm the interlock safety feature is working after assembly?

Pull one drawer completely open, then try to open a second drawer — it should stay locked until the first drawer is closed.

Does the box include hanging file rails for letter, legal and A4 sizes, or must I purchase them separately?

Hanging file rails for all three media sizes are built into each drawer; no extra rails are required.
