Classroom & Retail Audio Speaker

The LOWELL DSL-805-72 is an 8-inch surface-mount speaker rated at 12 watts for 25V or 70V distributed audio lines. Its dual-cone 805A driver with a 5 oz magnet delivers consistent output for paging and background music. A TLM-572 transformer provides tap settings at .25, .5, 1, 2, and 5 watts to match zone requirements. The white steel enclosure measures 11.3 by 11.5 by 5.29 inches, tapering to 3.05 inches at the base.

Upgrade From Ceiling Tiles Or Low-Power Units

This model replaces ceiling-mounted tiles or smaller horn speakers when a surface-mount fixture with selectable power taps is required. The jump is worth it when installations need both 25V and 70V compatibility on the same hardware and a sloped-front baffle that directs sound toward listeners. It is not suited for buyers who need weather-rated enclosures or high-SPL reinforcement for large auditoriums.

Build Integration With Wiremold And Standard Boxes

The enclosure includes a universal mounting hole pattern plus top and bottom knockouts sized for 500 Series wiremold raceway. Transformer taps are accessible inside the cabinet for post-mount adjustment without removing the grille. The sloped profile reduces wall protrusion while the steel housing protects the driver in high-traffic corridors. No amplifier or volume control is included.
