Coaxial Speaker for Installed Audio

The Lowell ES-82CDT is an 8-inch coaxial compression speaker built for permanent in-ceiling placement. It handles 150W of program power and includes an integrated 120W line transformer with selectable taps. The unit suits commercial paging, background music and residential distributed-audio systems that demand consistent coverage from a single overhead point.

Suited for Distributed Systems Not Portable Use

Installers working with 25V, 70V or 100V constant-voltage lines will benefit from the tap selector behind the grille. The 8-ohm bypass position also allows direct connection to low-impedance amplifiers. Buyers who need a portable PA cabinet, a weather-rated outdoor enclosure or a subwoofer module should consider other product types.

Fits Standard Ceiling Cut-Outs

Reversible mounting dogs and included support rails secure the gray steel back-can into typical ceiling cavities. A press-fit grille with scrim and a supplied pull-tool finish the aperture cleanly while protecting the driver. The package also provides a plastic paint shield and C-ring so the rough-in stays tidy during construction or renovation phases.

Questions about this item

What voltage speaker system do I need so the 120W transformer taps at 25V, 70V, or 100V will work?

The tap selector behind the grille lets you match 25V, 70V, or 100V constant-voltage lines, plus an 8-ohm bypass for low-impedance amplifiers.

Can I keep my existing 8-ohm amplifier and still use this speaker?

Yes, the transformer includes an 8-ohm bypass position so the coaxial driver connects directly to a conventional low-impedance amp.

How do I verify the speaker is operating correctly once installed?

Apply signal and listen for clear speech intelligibility and full-range music reproduction from the 8-inch coaxial driver at the selected tap setting.
