8-inch 20 W coaxial ceiling speaker with 70 V transformer taps at 1, 2, 4 and 8 W, patented 1×2 tile-replacement design and 80-degree dispersion
The Lowell LT-830-870 is an 8-inch 20W coaxial ceiling loudspeaker built for 70V distributed audio systems. It replaces half of a standard 2x2 suspended tile using a patented 1x2 assembly with an integral T-bar for secure mounting. The unit suits commercial spaces needing broad coverage from a single unobtrusive driver. It is not for installers who require a full-tile replacement form factor or stereo imaging from one location.
The speaker operates on a 70V line with selectable transformer taps at 1, 2, 4, and 8 watts. This limits maximum output to the chosen tap and requires a compatible 70V amplifier channel. Wiring must follow two-cable code compliance using the provided restraint tab and hole. Systems needing low-impedance direct drive or taps above 8 watts cannot use this model.
The coaxial driver delivers a frequency response of 57Hz-14kHz (+/-6dB) extending to 44Hz-20kHz (+/-7.6dB) with 97.0dB average sensitivity at 1W/1M and 80-degree conical dispersion. This single spec set determines whether the bass extension, coverage angle, and efficiency match the room acoustics and SPL targets for the intended paging or background music application.

Select the tap that matches the volume you need for each zone; lower taps draw less amplifier power while higher taps give louder output from the same 20W driver.
At 1 watt input the speaker produces 97.0dB at one metre, so typical 70V amplifier settings will deliver clear coverage across the 80-degree dispersion area.
The 70V transformer caps input at the chosen tap — 1, 2, 4 or 8 watts — protecting the 20W coaxial driver from overload while allowing long cable runs.
