Eight-port SAS host-bus adapter with IT-mode firmware, two internal SFF-8087 connectors and 6 Gb/s transfer rate for ZFS or unRAID arrays
The LSI 9205-8i operates in IT mode, presenting drives directly to the operating system without RAID abstraction. It provides eight lanes of 6 Gb/s SAS connectivity through two SFF-8087 ports, each supporting four SAS or SATA devices. The card includes SafeStore encryption services for self-encrypting drives and ships with both high and low-profile brackets.
This host bus adapter fits builders running ZFS, FreeNAS or unRAID who want direct drive control and broad SATA/SAS compatibility. Buyers who require hardware RAID offload or more than eight device ports should consider a different controller.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The HBA itself has no onboard fan; heat output depends on the chassis airflow and the number of drives attached to the two SFF-8087 ports.
You need Mini-SAS SFF-8087 cables or a backplane with matching SFF-8087 receptacles; each port carries four SAS or SATA lanes.
