LSI M5110 6Gbps SAS SATA HBA IT Mode network card

SKU CH-T54X-BE9YH MPN M5110

An HBA card with two mini-SAS ports, 6 Gbps data transfer, and IT-mode firmware for ZFS, FreeNAS, or unRAID arrays

  • HBA IT mode firmware passes drives directly to the OS
  • 6 Gbps SAS and SATA transfer rate per port
  • Two Mini SAS internal connectors support multiple drives
  • PCI Express host interface fits standard server slots

Product Identity

The LSI M5110 is a 6Gbps SAS SATA host bus adapter that operates in IT mode, presenting drives directly to the operating system without hardware RAID abstraction. It connects through a PCI Express slot and provides two Mini SAS internal ports for up to eight drives, making it a straightforward controller for software-defined storage platforms such as ZFS, FreeNAS and unRAID.

Ideal Use and Limits

This card suits builders who want a simple, non-RAID SAS SATA interface for parity-based or pooled storage arrays. It will not serve users who require hardware RAID levels, cache-backed write acceleration or additional connectivity beyond the two Mini SAS ports provided.
