Connects a 36-pin SFF-8087 SAS controller to four SATA drives at up to 6 Gb/s per drive using a 0.5 m braided cable
This 0.5 metre cable splits a single Mini SAS 36-pin male connector into four SATA 7-pin data ports. It is built for administrators who connect a SAS HBA or RAID card directly to SATA hard drives or a compatible backplane. The assembly uses thin, braided wiring and a locking latch on the 8087 end.
Each SATA lead is marked so installers can trace cables quickly inside a crowded chassis. The latch on the Mini SAS plug prevents accidental disconnection during drive swaps or chassis vibration. A taped and braided sheath keeps the four runs tidy without adding bulk.
The link tops out at 6 Gbit/s for each attached SATA device, matching the SATA 3.0 specification. The 8087 connector must plug into the controller side; attaching it to a backplane Mini SAS port will not function. Length is fixed at 0.5 metres, limiting reach in larger enclosures.

No, the 36-pin SFF-8087 connector is a passive interface with no moving parts or consumable components, so it does not require scheduled maintenance or replacement under normal use.
Each of the four SATA drives can transfer data at up to 6 Gb/s per drive, which is the practical limit that appears first during sustained read or write workloads.
The cable is completely passive and draws no power of its own, so it adds negligible heat and no additional power load even when operating all day.
