LSI Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC SAS Expansion Card Low Profile Bracket 761872-B21

SKU CH-T21Q-HPBHG

Adds SAS RAID control with 4 GB flash-backed write cache for low-profile servers

  • Low-profile bracket fits compact server chassis
  • 4 GB flash-backed write cache protects data during power loss
  • SAS internal and external ports connect drives and enclosures
  • LSI Smart Array P440 controller manages RAID arrays efficiently
  • Part 761872-B21 ensures correct replacement for HP servers

Low-profile SAS expansion card

The LSI Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC is a low-profile SAS expansion card designed for server environments that need additional internal and external SAS connectivity. It suits administrators expanding storage arrays in 1U or 2U chassis where full-height cards do not fit.

Sustained write performance with FBWC

The on-board 4 GB flash-backed write cache absorbs burst I/O and flushes data to flash during power loss, keeping write latency steady under continuous mixed workloads. Battery maintenance is eliminated because the cache uses non-volatile flash rather than a lithium-ion module.

Straightforward installation in supported servers

The card installs in a standard PCIe slot and ships with the low-profile bracket already attached, so no bracket swap is required. Compatibility is limited to systems that list the 761872 part number in their qualified hardware list; servers without that validation may not recognise the controller or may disable the FBWC feature.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the P440 card produce when running continuously?

The card draws its power from the PCIe slot and has no separate fan; server chassis airflow handles cooling.

Does the low-profile bracket fit my existing server rail kit?

The bracket is designed for standard low-profile server slots and replaces the full-height bracket supplied with the 761872-B21 controller.

Will the SAS ports connect to my older SCSI backplane?

The controller uses SAS interfaces only; it does not support legacy parallel SCSI connections.
